Potato Chips Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021
The average potato chips import price stood at $10,267 per ton in December 2021, increasing by 39% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated temperate growth from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, potato chips import price increased by +64.9% against October 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2021 an increase of 104% m-o-m. The import price peaked in December 2021.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($21,838 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($6,540 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Potato Chips Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
The average potato chips export price stood at $4,156 per ton in 2022, reducing by -6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 43%. The export price peaked at $5,569 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($6,658 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($1,046 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+18.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Potato Chips Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, overseas purchases of potato chips were finally on the rise to reach 1.3K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt setback.
In value terms, potato chips imports expanded rapidly to $7.7M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction.

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of potato chips decreased by -17.5% to 21 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 330% against the previous year.
In value terms, potato chips exports shrank significantly to $89K in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 516% against the previous year.
