Polyurethanes Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average polyurethanes export price amounted to $4,455 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 11% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,904 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Finland ($7,682 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($3,014 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average polyurethanes import price amounted to $5,105 per ton, reducing by -7.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 8.3% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,499 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($7,112 per ton), while the price for China ($3,771 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, approx. 122K tons of polyurethanes in primary forms were exported from the Netherlands; growing by 22% compared with the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyurethanes exports expanded to $514M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 47% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Polyurethanes Imports in the Netherlands

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyurethanes imports expanded significantly to $238M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
