Polysilicon manufacturing is a complex process divided into multiple steps, starting from raw materials and ending up in refined polysilicon. Knowing each step in detail is essential to understanding how polysilicon is made.
The first step in the process is to ensure the quality of the raw materials. Silica (SiO2), the main component of polysilicon, is obtained from quartz or sand. The raw material is heated to remove any impurities and then placed into a reactor. The reactor is then filled with hydrogen to reduce the silica to silicon.
The next step is the cleaning process, which is achieved through a series of chemical reactions. The silicon is then purified further and melted in large furnaces. The melted silicon is then solidified into a block through the Czochralski process. The process involves dipping a seed crystal into the molten silicon and slowly pulling it out. As the seed is lifted, the silicon starts to solidify and form a solid crystal or ingot.
The next step is to cut the silicon ingot into pieces that are small enough to be loaded into a reactor. The pieces are then placed into a reactor and exposed to a highly reactive gas, usually trichlorosilane (TCS), which breaks down the silicon into smaller pieces, called polysilicon.
After this, the polysilicon particles are removed from the reactor, and any contaminants are filtered out. The resulting product may contain different grades of polysilicon, which are further sorted and classified according to their quality and intended use.
The final step is packaging the polysilicon and shipping it to manufacturers of solar panels or semiconductor chips. The polysilicon is then converted into wafers used to make photovoltaic cells or semiconductor chips. The end product is essential for the electronics industry, and the solar industry as it provides a critical component for manufacturing various electronic devices and systems.
Overall, the polysilicon manufacturing process is incredibly complex, requiring strict control, and a highly skilled workforce. The industry's quality standards dictate the materials and processes used in the polysilicon manufacturing process, which ensures that the final product is of the highest quality and purity, making it ideal for the electronics and solar industry.

New waves of the epidemic and the overwhelming demand for oxygen in the healthcare sector have led to a scarcity of the product worldwide. Countries with severe shortages are diverting oxygen from the sectors of metallurgy and chemistry to healthcare, which reduces the productivity of the manufacturing industries. As the pandemic slows, the demand for medical oxygen will return to pre-crisis levels. In the post-pandemic period, the growing demand from the metallurgical and chemical industries will continue to shape market expansion. Decarbonization may emerge as a new market driver, with oxygen being used to produce synthesis gas from carbon dioxide.
