China Polypropylene Filament Yarn (Excluding Sewing Thread) Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the polypropylene filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) price amounted to $2,814 per ton (FOB, China), with a decrease of -14.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 20% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,385 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($5,615 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($1,740 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kenya (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, shipments abroad of polypropylene filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) was finally on the rise to reach 2.2K tons for the first time since June 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when exports increased by 61% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 2.7K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of polypropylene filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) shrank to $6.3M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when exports increased by 68% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at 9K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
China Polypropylene Filament Yarn (Excluding Sewing Thread) Exports by Country
Vietnam (248 tons), South Korea (243 tons) and Thailand (213 tons) were the main destinations of exports of polypropylene filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) from China, together comprising 32% of total exports. These countries were followed by Angola, Australia, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, Japan, Mexico, Malaysia, Russia and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 46%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Angola (with a CAGR of +54.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($565K), Vietnam ($499K) and Mexico ($452K) appeared to be the largest markets for polypropylene filament yarn (excluding sewing thread) exported from China worldwide, with a combined 24% share of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Australia, Angola, Kenya, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 41%.
Angola, with a CAGR of +50.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
