Polycrystalline solar cells, also known as poly or multicrystalline cells, are a type of solar cell made from silicon. The manufacturing process involves several steps:
1. Silicon Purification
The first step in manufacturing polycrystalline solar cells is to purify the silicon. This is done by converting metallurgical grade silicon into pure silicon through a series of chemical and mechanical processes. The purified silicon is then carefully refined to remove impurities and contaminants, resulting in a high-purity silicon material called polysilicon.
2. Ingot Casting
The next step is to melt the polysilicon in a furnace until it reaches a molten state. The molten silicon is then poured into a mold or crucible and allowed to cool. As the silicon cools, it solidifies into a large, block-shaped crystal called an ingot.
3. Wafer Slicing
The ingot is then sliced into thin, circular wafers using a wire saw. The wafers are typically around 0.3-0.4mm thick and are carefully inspected to ensure they meet quality standards. The slices are then cleaned and polished to remove any impurities or surface defects.
4. Solar Cell Fabrication
The next step is to fabricate the solar cells from the wafers. This involves a series of etching, doping, and coating processes to create a semiconductor junction on the surface of the wafer. A layer of metal contacts is added to the front and back of the cell, which serves to collect the generated electricity and transfer it out of the cell.
5. Module Assembly
Finally, the individual solar cells are connected together to form a complete solar panel or module. The cells are wired together using soldering or conductive adhesive, and then encapsulated in a protective layer of tempered glass or plastic. The back of the module is typically covered with a polymer or aluminum sheet, and the edges are sealed with a weather-resistant adhesive.
The manufacturing process for polycrystalline solar cells is highly automated and requires specialized equipment and skilled operators. The entire process takes several days to complete and requires strict quality control measures to ensure consistent performance and efficiency.

New waves of the epidemic and the overwhelming demand for oxygen in the healthcare sector have led to a scarcity of the product worldwide. Countries with severe shortages are diverting oxygen from the sectors of metallurgy and chemistry to healthcare, which reduces the productivity of the manufacturing industries. As the pandemic slows, the demand for medical oxygen will return to pre-crisis levels. In the post-pandemic period, the growing demand from the metallurgical and chemical industries will continue to shape market expansion. Decarbonization may emerge as a new market driver, with oxygen being used to produce synthesis gas from carbon dioxide.
