Plywood Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022

The average plywood import price stood at $488 per cubic meter in 2022, surging by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $508 per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($872 per cubic meter), while the price for China ($417 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plywood Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022

The average plywood export price stood at $367 per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 55% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $818 per cubic meter in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($1,814 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($145 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Yemen (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plywood Imports in Oman

In 2022, plywood imports into Oman surged to 109K cubic meters, rising by 15% on 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 16%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 125K cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plywood imports soared to $53M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Plywood Exports in Oman

In 2022, exports of plywood from Oman contracted rapidly to 1.8K cubic meters, waning by -31.2% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a precipitous setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 3.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 5.3K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plywood exports declined dramatically to $677K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 12%. The exports peaked at $2.3M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
