Which Country Consumes the Most Plywood?

When calculating consumption on the global plywood market in 2015, the leading consuming market was China (65%). This country was also the leading producer of plywood in the world. Per capita plywood consumption in China was estimated at 66.3 cubic meters/1,000 persons, one of the highest in the world, and significantly higher than the global average (19.7 cubic meters/1,000 persons).

From 2007 to 2015, global plywood consumption annually grew by a healthy +6.3%. The highest annual growth rates of plywood consumption from 2007 to 2015 were recorded in Indonesia and Malaysia, with +15.1% and +14.4% growth, respectively.

According to market research conducted by IndexBox, the highest level of plywood consumption was registered in Singapore (120.7 cubic meters/1,000 persons), Canada (80.2 cubic meters/1,000 persons) and Malaysia (66.9cubic meters/1,000 persons). Philippines (6.9 cubic meters/1,000 persons), Mexico (5.1 cubic meters/1,000 persons) and India (2.0 cubic meters/1,000 persons) had the lowest levels of plywood consumption. Moreover, in India, per capita plywood consumption remained stable. Population growth induced a slight increase in per capita consumption.

In Eastern and South-Eastern Asia countries, plywood consumption growth was more pronounced than in Northern America and Europen countries.
