Plastic Supports Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average plastic supports export price amounted to $3,933 per ton, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The export price peaked at $6,199 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($10,609 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,762 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Plastic Supports Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
The average plastic supports import price stood at $1,847 per ton in 2022, surging by 5.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 12%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,771 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($5,036 per ton), while the price for China ($928 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Plastic supports exports from the United States reached 20K tons in 2022, with an increase of 2.3% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +40.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, plastic supports exports surged to $79M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 31%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Plastic Supports Imports in the United States
For the fourth consecutive year, the United States recorded growth in supplies from abroad of spools, cops, bobbins and similar supports of plastics, which increased by 19% to 17K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 57%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plastic supports imports surged to $31M in 2022.
