Plaster Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average plaster import price amounted to $316 per ton, with an increase of 8.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 30% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $338 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($323 per ton), while the price for Poland stood at $213 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.7%).
Plaster Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022
The average plaster export price stood at $551 per ton in 2022, dropping by -7% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $731 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($2,089 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($298 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plaster Imports in Lithuania
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of plaster, when their volume decreased by -2.3% to 38K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 6.2%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 39K tons, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, plaster imports expanded slightly to $9.2M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
