In September 2023, the average plant-growth regulators import price amounted to $2,987 per ton, growing by 19% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 40% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $11,890 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($4,340 per ton), while the price for China ($2,172 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average plant-growth regulators export price stood at $4,949 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -20.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 38% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $10,317 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Papua New Guinea ($6,657 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($4,362 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Papua New Guinea (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Plant-Growth Regulators Imports in Australia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of plant-growth regulators decreased by -4.5% to 186K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend.
