Pigeon Peas Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average pigeon peas import price amounted to $457 per ton, surging by 4.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 114% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,000 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($508 per ton), while the price for Hungary stood at $387 per ton.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (-5.1%).

Pigeon Peas Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2022

The average pigeon peas export price stood at $574 per ton in 2022, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the last two years, it increased at an average annual rate of +10.8%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for North Macedonia.

From 2020 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for North Macedonia amounted to +10.7% per year.

Pigeon Peas Imports in Serbia

In 2022, purchases abroad of pigeon peas decreased by -66.2% to 45 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 835%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 226 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pigeon peas imports contracted rapidly to $20K in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 370% against the previous year.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.1 tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, pigeon peas exports reduced modestly to $517 in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 186%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $534, and then reduced in the following year.
