Phosphorus Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average phosphorus export price amounted to $3,172 per ton, shrinking by -7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,632 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to India ($3,196 per ton) and Japan ($3,196 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($2,954 per ton) and South Africa ($2,954 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (-1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Phosphorus Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022

The average phosphorus import price stood at $3,342 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 3.4% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,169 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,556 per ton), while the price for South Korea stood at $3,101 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Phosphorus Exports in Vietnam

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of phosphori, when their volume decreased by -13.3% to 104K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 120K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, phosphorus exports dropped rapidly to $329M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +36.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 63%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $408M, and then plummeted in the following year.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of phosphori, when their volume decreased by -26.1% to 103 tons. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 110%.

In value terms, phosphorus imports reduced sharply to $346K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 117%.
