Phenolic Resins Price in India (CIF) - 2023
The average phenolic resins import price stood at $3,523 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 20% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 27% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,884 per ton. From June 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,289 per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($1,909 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+13.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Phenolic Resins Price in India (FOB) - 2023
The average phenolic resins export price stood at $2,162 per ton in July 2023, falling by -14.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,733 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,027 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,119 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Phenolic Resins Imports in India
In 2022, phenolic resins imports into India contracted to 24K tons, reducing by -9.7% compared with 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 27K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, phenolic resins imports totaled $82M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
