Pharmaceutical Goods Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2023
The average pharmaceutical goods import price stood at $197K per ton in June 2023, picking up by 48% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 402% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $320K per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($383K per ton), while the price for Turkey ($25,155 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+43.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average pharmaceutical goods export price stood at $86,342 per ton in 2022, growing by 202% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 367% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($368,647 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($6,333 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (+73.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
