In 2022, the average petroleum jelly import price amounted to $909 per ton, growing by 184% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible increase. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($3,290 per ton), while the price for India ($240 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Petroleum Jelly Imports in Myanmar
For the third year in a row, Myanmar recorded decline in overseas purchases of petroleum jellies, which decreased by -79.4% to 212 tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a dramatic setback. The smallest decline of -22.1% was in 2021.
In value terms, petroleum jelly imports shrank sharply to $192K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant contraction. The smallest decline of -5.3% was in 2020.
