Pear Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average pear import price amounted to $1,450 per ton, growing by 13% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 38% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,318 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,773 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($897 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Pear Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average pear export price amounted to $1,022 per ton, which is down by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 42%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,045 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($1,533 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($883 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of pears were finally on the rise to reach 5K tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, pear imports expanded rapidly to $5.5M in 2022.
