Pasta Products Price in South Korea (FOB) - 2022
The average pasta products export price stood at $3,375 per ton in December 2022, with an increase of 3.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 4.6% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,513 per ton. From October 2022 to December 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($4,116 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2,595 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pasta Products Price in South Korea (CIF) - 2022
The average pasta products import price stood at $4,557 per ton in December 2022, waning by -8.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 an increase of 18% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,567 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($8,878 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($2,528 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pasta Products Exports in South Korea
For the fourth year in a row, South Korea recorded growth in overseas shipments of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products, which increased by 10% to 257K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.9% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 28%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, pasta products exports stood at $862M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +63.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Pasta Products Imports in South Korea
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products decreased by -1.8% to 6.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 6.9K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, pasta products imports skyrocketed to $33M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 59%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
