Pasta Products Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average pasta products import price amounted to $2,944 per ton, increasing by 8.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 10% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,096 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,017 per ton), while the price for China ($2,144 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Pasta Products Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
The average pasta products export price stood at $3,195 per ton in September 2023, jumping by 22% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 53% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,043 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($5,002 per ton), while the average price for exports to Papua New Guinea ($1,655 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Pasta Products Imports in Australia
In 2022, approx. 79K tons of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products were imported into Australia; increasing by 20% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, pasta products imports skyrocketed to $237M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -26.3% against 2020 indices.
