Palm Oil Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average palm oil import price stood at $1,355 per ton in August 2023, declining by -8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,645 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,930 per ton), while the price for Guatemala ($984 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Palm Oil Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average palm oil export price stood at $1,586 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -7.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,093 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($1,960 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($1,824 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,321 per ton) and Lithuania ($1,544 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
