Optical Fiber Cables Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average optical fiber cables export price stood at $6,694 per ton in June 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.9% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,934 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($21,371 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($2,959 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Optical Fiber Cables Price in China (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average optical fiber cables import price amounted to $41,477 per ton, with a decrease of -10.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $46,529 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($72,167 per ton), while the price for Norway ($8,798 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Optical Fiber Cables Exports in China
In 2022, optical fiber cables exports from China expanded modestly to 416K tons, increasing by 3.1% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +65.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, optical fiber cables exports expanded notably to $2.7B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +46.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
