Aluminium Wire Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average aluminium wire import price amounted to $3,024 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 52% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $5,711 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Egypt ($3,240 per ton) and Azerbaijan ($3,230 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($2,891 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($2,912 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average aluminium wire export price amounted to $2,554 per ton, picking up by 7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,594 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($3,085 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($2,501 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Aluminium Wire Imports in Ukraine

In 2022, approx. 17K tons of aluminium wires were imported into Ukraine; declining by -8.4% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20%.

In value terms, aluminium wire imports contracted to $38M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 42%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $44M, and then declined in the following year.
