Olive Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average olive import price amounted to $1,341 per ton, which is down by -15.7% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, olive import price increased by +62.2% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,591 per ton, and then fell markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($11,854 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($434 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+41.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Olive Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
The average olive export price stood at $897 per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 43% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,909 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($1,250 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brunei Darussalam (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Olive Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, olive imports into Malaysia amounted to 18 tons, growing by 2.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5,528%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 18 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, olive imports dropped to $24K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 4,952% against the previous year.
