Olive Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average olive export price amounted to $3,799 per ton, surging by 52% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a buoyant increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($4,647 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia amounted to $2,141 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Olive Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average olive import price amounted to $2,196 per ton, growing by 63% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,083 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($2,933 per ton), while the price for Austria amounted to $1,611 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+19.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Olive Exports in Hungary

In 2022, shipments abroad of olives decreased by -75.7% to 3.1 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 3,005% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 25 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, olive exports shrank rapidly to $12K in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 3,723% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $56K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Olive Imports in Hungary

In 2022, supplies from abroad of olives decreased by -89.7% to 2.5 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a precipitous slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 182%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 26 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, olive imports shrank rapidly to $5.6K in 2022. Overall, imports faced a sharp setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 60%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $57K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
