In July 2023, the average non-liquid margarine import price amounted to $1,703 per ton, rising by 8.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,172 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Venezuela ($3,310 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,406 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Venezuela (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
