Non-Alloy Steel U-Section Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average non-alloy steel u-section export price stood at $1,018 per ton in September 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 7.2% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,299 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($4,437 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($852 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Alloy Steel U-Section Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average non-alloy steel u-section import price stood at $792 per ton in September 2023, falling by -3.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 6.8% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,102 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($1,056 per ton), while the price for Switzerland stood at $839 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Non-Alloy Steel U-Section Exports in Germany
In 2022, approx. 153K tons of u-sections of non-alloy steel were exported from Germany; falling by -12.7% compared with the year before. Overall, exports showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 3.3%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 176K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, non-alloy steel u-section exports stood at $198M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +67.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
