In 2022, the average net fabric import price amounted to $609 per ton, growing by 34% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 291%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $16,147 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($647 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($43 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Net Fabric Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average net fabric export price amounted to $5,154 per ton, rising by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 78%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $12,946 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($123,748 per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger ($3,188 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Benin (+169.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Net Fabric Imports in Nigeria

In 2022, approx. 62 tons of tulles and other net fabrics were imported into Nigeria; reducing by -72.5% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a precipitous descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 133%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 225 tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, net fabric imports fell remarkably to $38K in 2022. In general, imports recorded a sharp decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 108%.

Net Fabric Exports in Nigeria

In 2022, shipments abroad of tulles and other net fabrics decreased by -45.7% to 323 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 238% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 595 kg, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, net fabric exports fell significantly to $1.7K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 128% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.3K, and then fell sharply in the following year.
