In 2022, the average mullite import price amounted to $598 per ton, picking up by 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,045 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($5,467 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($161 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Mullite Imports in Vietnam
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of mullites decreased by -18.6% to 4.4K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 108% against the previous year.
In value terms, mullite imports totaled $2.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 143% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $2.7M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
