The average molybdenum; wire import price stood at $84,781 per ton in 2022, falling by -3.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The import price peaked at $131,882 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 90% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $236,835 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($319,014 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($113,484 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tunisia (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Molybdenum; Wire Imports in Hungary

For the third year in a row, Hungary recorded decline in overseas purchases of molybdenum; wires, which decreased by -73.4% to 3.9 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a precipitous descent. The smallest decline of -5.5% was in 2021.
