Molluscs Price in the United Arab Emirates (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average molluscs import price amounted to $3,909 per ton, shrinking by -11.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 34%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,280 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($12,053 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($2,236 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Molluscs Price in the United Arab Emirates (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average molluscs export price amounted to $4,903 per ton, shrinking by -6.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 22%. The export price peaked at $5,654 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($17,524 per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($4,160 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Molluscs Imports in the United Arab Emirates

In 2022, imports of molluscs (scallops, mussels, cuttle fish, squid and octopus) into the United Arab Emirates reduced modestly to 10K tons, waning by -2.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 70%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 10K tons, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, molluscs imports reduced to $39M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 76%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $45M, and then contracted in the following year.
