Molasse Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
The average molasse export price stood at $145 per ton in January 2022, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated tangible growth from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.9% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, molasse export price increased by +19.4% against November 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2021 when the average export price increased by 70% m-o-m. The export price peaked in January 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($166 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($39.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molasse Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average molasse import price amounted to $494 per ton, reducing by -30.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,344 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($7,276 per ton), while the price for Germany ($593 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+19.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molasse Exports in Russia
Molasse exports from Russia amounted to 634K tons in 2022, surging by 14% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 16%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 701K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, molasse exports expanded rapidly to $73M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $76M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Molasse imports into Russia surged to 871 tons in 2022, jumping by 247% against the year before. In general, imports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 3,414% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.5K tons.
