Modified Starches Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average modified starches import price stood at $2,037 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 5% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated perceptible growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, modified starches import price increased by +87.6% against August 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. The import price peaked in July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($3,014 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($524 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Modified Starches Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average modified starches export price amounted to $846 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 21% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,047 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Iran ($2,920 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($486 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Modified Starches Imports in Turkey
In 2022, overseas purchases of dextrins and other modified starches decreased by -18.5% to 77K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 9.7% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 97K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, modified starches imports soared to $94M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Modified Starches Exports in Turkey
Modified starches exports from Turkey surged to 65K tons in 2022, growing by 17% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 68% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, modified starches exports skyrocketed to $47M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
