Miscellaneous Ferro-Alloys Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022

The average miscellaneous ferro-alloys import price stood at $6,964 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 51%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8,185 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($35,482 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($2,145 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+32.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Miscellaneous Ferro-Alloys Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average miscellaneous ferro-alloys export price amounted to $5,664 per ton, increasing by 22% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated strong growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, miscellaneous ferro-alloys export price increased by +22.6% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 51% m-o-m. The export price peaked in August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($12,423 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($2,579 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+22.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Miscellaneous Ferro-Alloys Imports in the United States

In 2022, imports of miscellaneous ferro-alloys into the United States skyrocketed to 120K tons, rising by 25% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, miscellaneous ferro-alloys imports soared to $836M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
