Meat Dishes Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average meat dishes import price amounted to $12,121 per ton, rising by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 17% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $12,367 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($17,807 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($4,909 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Meat Dishes Price in Switzerland (FOB) - 2023
The average meat dishes export price stood at $6,075 per ton in August 2023, growing by 7.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,653 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($14,056 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($5,105 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Meat Dishes Imports in Switzerland
In 2022, supplies from abroad of meat dishes decreased by -1.9% to 17K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 17K tons, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
In value terms, meat dishes imports fell slightly to $180M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $188M, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
