In June 2023, the average marble and travertine export price amounted to $536 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 31% against the previous month. The export price peaked in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($745 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($97.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Marble and Travertine Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022
The average marble and travertine import price stood at $260 per ton in 2021, growing by 39% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $429 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
