Malt Price in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average malt export price stood at $1,097 per ton in June 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, malt export price increased by +96.9% against August 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($1,353 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($890 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Trinidad and Tobago (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Malt Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average malt import price stood at $643 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -18.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a precipitous decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 352% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $15,913 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,050 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($635 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Malt Exports in the UK
In 2022, the amount of malt (not roasted) exported from the UK totaled 159K tons, increasing by 1.7% on the previous year. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year.
In value terms, malt exports amounted to $111M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18%.
