Maize Oil Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average maize oil import price stood at $1,972 per ton in 2022, growing by 37% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, maize oil import price increased by +143.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 39% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Saudi Arabia ($1,963 per ton) and Turkey ($1,924 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($1,656 per ton) and the United States ($1,656 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average maize oil export price stood at $2,062 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 20% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 22% m-o-m. The export price peaked in June 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Saudi Arabia ($2,062 per ton) and Jordan ($2,062 per ton), while the average price for exports to Palestine ($2,062 per ton) and Libya ($2,062 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Maize Oil Imports in Egypt
Maize oil imports into Egypt contracted sharply to 9.1K tons in 2022, falling by -70.9% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a sharp reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 5.2%.

Maize Oil Exports in Egypt
