Live Fish Price in Pakistan (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average live fish export price amounted to $2,510 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, live fish export price decreased by -26.0% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,393 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Afghanistan.

The average live fish import price stood at $2,953 per ton in 2022, reducing by -26.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,082 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($5,024 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,757 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Live Fish Imports in Pakistan
In 2022, purchases abroad of live fish was finally on the rise to reach 58 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, faced a significant decline.
