In January 2022, the average liquefied propane export price amounted to $697 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. In general, export price indicated a strong increase from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, liquefied propane export price increased by +113.7% against January 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2021 an increase of 18% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $704 per ton, leveling off in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In January 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Albania ($788 per ton) and Finland ($780 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($649 per ton) and Ukraine ($669 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average liquefied propane import price amounted to $320 per ton, rising by 8.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 270%. The import price peaked at $5,057 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Poland amounted to +1.8% per year.

Liquefied Propane Exports in Russia

In 2022, shipments abroad of liquefied propanes was finally on the rise to reach 2.4M tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep contraction.

In value terms, liquefied propane exports dropped to $893M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year.

In 2022, the amount of liquefied propanes imported into Russia surged to 14K tons, with an increase of 28% on the previous year. In general, imports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 172%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 17K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, liquefied propane imports surged to $4.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a strong increase.
