Linseed Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average linseed import price amounted to $729 per ton, declining by -21.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 17% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,150 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($2,102 per ton), while the price for Russia ($371 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Linseed Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average linseed export price amounted to $1,152 per ton, waning by -27.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 29% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,670 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($1,567 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($537 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Linseed Imports in Germany

In 2022, the amount of linseed imported into Germany dropped markedly to 113K tons, declining by -21.5% against 2021. In general, imports recorded a deep reduction. The smallest decline of -7% was in 2021.

In value terms, linseed imports reduced slightly to $123M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $126M, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

Linseed Exports in Germany

For the third consecutive year, Germany recorded decline in shipments abroad of linseed, which decreased by -30.2% to 10K tons in 2022. In general, exports faced a sharp reduction. The smallest decline of -13.7% was in 2021.

In value terms, linseed exports declined dramatically to $16M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 12%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $19M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
