Canada's Linseed Exports Increased by 11% in 2014
Canada dominates in the global linseed trade. In 2014, Canada exported X thousand tonnes of linseed totaling X million USD, X% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was China, where it supplied X% of its total linseed exports in value terms, accounting for nearly ninety percent of China's total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, Canada was a net exporter of linseed. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms this difference was even more pronounced.
Kazakhstan and Belgium were among the other main global suppliers of linseed in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and India (+X% per year). Both of these countries, by virtue of their meteoric growth, significantly strengthened their positions in the global export structure.
Canada's top X trading partners were China, the U.S., Belgium, Viet Nam and Mexico, with a combined X% share of Canada's linseed exports. The share of China surged (+X percentage points), while the share of Belgium plummeted (-X percentage points).
