Lentil Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

The average lentil import price stood at $1,032 per ton in 2022, which is down by -13.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 73% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,192 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,690 per ton), while the price for Canada amounted to $1,023 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+16.1%).

Lentil Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

The average lentil export price stood at $1,049 per ton in 2022, dropping by -3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 50%. The export price peaked at $2,250 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Czech Republic.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Senegal amounted to -18.1% per year.

Lentil Imports in Indonesia

In 2022, purchases abroad of lentils was finally on the rise to reach 66 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic contraction.

In value terms, lentil imports declined to $69K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a sharp curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 15%.

Lentil Exports in Indonesia

In 2022, shipments abroad of lentils decreased by -43.3% to 29 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 1,063%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 51 tons, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In value terms, lentil exports reduced dramatically to $30K in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 1,013%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $55K, and then fell markedly in the following year.
