Lactose Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average lactose export price amounted to $938 per ton, reducing by -12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 9% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,303 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($5,445 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($736 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lactose Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
The average lactose import price stood at $1,714 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -25.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 9.2% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,320 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,811 per ton), while the price for France ($720 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Lactose Exports in Poland
In 2022, approx. 26K tons of lactose and lactose syrup were exported from Poland; picking up by 12% compared with the previous year. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -15.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 75%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 31K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, lactose exports fell to $33M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 124%.
