Ketone and Quinone Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ketone and quinone export price amounted to $1,067 per ton, waning by -11.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,553 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,201 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($799 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average ketone and quinone import price stood at $8,718 per ton in 2022, picking up by 19% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
