Iron Angle Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average iron angle import price amounted to $965 per ton, surging by 1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 15% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,271 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Luxembourg ($1,148 per ton) and Bahrain ($1,033 per ton), while the price for North Macedonia ($872 per ton) and Turkey ($879 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Iron Angle Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average iron angle export price amounted to $1,194 per ton, falling by -20.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 20% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,506 per ton, and then declined markedly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($1,898 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($920 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Iron Angle Imports in Greece
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of angles, shapes and sections (of iron or non-alloy steel) decreased by -12.5% to 110K tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 1.7%.
In value terms, iron angle imports rose significantly to $118M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Iron Angle Exports in Greece
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of angles, shapes and sections (of iron or non-alloy steel) increased by 11% to 13K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt contraction.
In value terms, iron angle exports skyrocketed to $18M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
