Iron Angle Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average iron angle export price stood at $671 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -5.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 26% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,246 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Nigeria ($702 per ton) and Bulgaria ($697 per ton), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($547 per ton) and Iraq ($574 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (-1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Iron Angle Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average iron angle import price amounted to $1,109 per ton, dropping by -8.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,264 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,693 per ton), while the price for Russia ($744 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Iron Angle Exports in China
In 2022, approx. 4.7M tons of angles, shapes and sections (of iron or non-alloy steel) were exported from China; with an increase of 223% against 2021. In general, exports posted significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, iron angle exports surged to $4.9B in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 5.9% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 306K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, iron angle imports declined to $271M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $307M, and then shrank in the following year.
