Iodine Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average iodine import price amounted to $71,824 per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 95% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $143K per ton. From August 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Chile.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to +37.7% per month.

Iodine Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022

The average iodine export price stood at $57,087 per ton in 2022, rising by 60% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight decrease. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $67,405 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Colombia ($63,224 per ton) and South Korea ($61,377 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($55,728 per ton) and Belgium ($56,597 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Iodine Imports in Brazil

In 2022, imports of iodine into Brazil dropped to 1.2K tons, declining by -7% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 39%.

In value terms, iodine imports soared to $69M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
