Inulin Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023

The average inulin import price stood at $3,893 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,116 per ton. From March 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were China ($4,831 per ton) and Belgium ($4,064 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($3,226 per ton) and the Netherlands ($3,485 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Inulin Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

The average inulin export price stood at $3,232 per ton in 2022, falling by -11.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 150%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,187 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for New Zealand.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for New Zealand amounted to +4.8% per year.

Inulin Imports in Australia

For the fourth year in a row, Australia recorded growth in overseas purchases of inulin, which increased by 22% to 1.4K tons in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a significant increase.
