Ice Cream Price in Guatemala (FOB) - 2023

The average ice cream export price stood at $2,922 per ton in June 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 6.2% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,090 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Dominican Republic ($3,269 per ton) and Honduras ($3,002 per ton), while the average price for exports to El Salvador ($2,734 per ton) and Belize ($2,996 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ice Cream Price in Guatemala (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average ice cream import price amounted to $2,155 per ton, increasing by 9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,600 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($8,778 per ton), while the price for Nicaragua ($1,165 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Ice Cream Exports in Guatemala

In 2022, approx. 16K tons of ice cream were exported from Guatemala; with an increase of 3.3% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +40.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, ice cream exports surged to $46M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ice cream imports expanded remarkably to $8.7M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
