Hot-Rolled Free-Cutting Steel Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average hot-rolled free-cutting steel import price amounted to $1,095 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,306 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Italy ($1,175 per ton) and Germany ($1,153 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($1,022 per ton) and France ($1,035 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Hot-Rolled Free-Cutting Steel Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
The average hot-rolled free-cutting steel export price stood at $1,411 per ton in 2022, jumping by 45% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a moderate increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,857 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($1,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+50.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hot-Rolled Free-Cutting Steel Imports in Turkey
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of hot-rolled bars in free-cutting steels, when their volume decreased by -13.7% to 16K tons. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 18K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, hot-rolled free-cutting steel imports skyrocketed to $20M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 127% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
