Fructose Price in Myanmar (CIF) - 2022

The average fructose import price stood at $526 per ton in December 2022, reducing by -71.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 166% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,847 per ton, and then fell markedly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,579 per ton), while the price for China stood at $491 per ton.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Fructose Price in Myanmar (FOB) - 2022

The average fructose export price stood at $886 per ton in December 2022, rising by 21% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 177% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,457 per ton. From March 2022 to December 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($682 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fructose Imports in Myanmar

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of fructose and fructose syrup, when their volume decreased by -23.4% to 5.6K tons. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 57% against the previous year.

In value terms, fructose imports shrank markedly to $3.1M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.8M, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Fructose Exports in Myanmar

In 2022, fructose exports from Myanmar skyrocketed to 3.1K tons, increasing by 81% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, faced a significant decline.

In value terms, fructose exports surged to $2.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a precipitous setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 115%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $15M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
